·               Developed fundamental plans, high and low level designs, and worked on budget approval for Smart’s 3-year modernization portfolio which includes:

o        Migration of TDM network into IP through CEN (ZTE and FiberHome).

o        Establishment of high capacity optical network via integration of ROADM into Smart’s backbone Transport network (ECI Apollo Family).

o        Deployment of Packet Radios as solution to the modernization of the sites not feasible for FOC deployment.

·               Conducted Proof of Concept for Packet Radio offered by different vendors such as Aviat, Huawei, Ceragon, Alcatel-Lucent, NSN, Ericsson, Nera, NEC, and Fujitsu.

·               Designed the 250-km Palawan Backbone Inland Domestic Fiber Optic Network via Ciena’s OME6500, and the Puerto Prinsesa CEN City Loop to provide 40 Gbps capacity to the province, boosting the company’s support to the local tourism of Palawan.

·   Prepared/issued detailed engineering plans and work orders for the installation, commissioning, acceptance, testing, transfer, dismantling, recovery, and cut-over of transport facilities including the implementation and acceptance of projects. The engineering plans include the vicinity map, site plan, rack schedule, floor plan and equipment layout, cableway plan, antenna and transmission line layout, bill of materials and equipment costing.

o   Bohol SDH Radio Backbone Change-out / Expansion from Nera Interlink 4xSTM-1 to NEC DMR5000 7xSTM-1

o   Tagbilaran City, Bohol Fiber in the Loop

·   Ensured effective E1/FE management to maximize utilization and for optimum traffic routing.

·   Ensured resilient transport network through redundancy and diverse transport facilities.

·   Provided transport solution to immediate and future requirements for 2G, 3G, HSPA, and Wimax.

·   Conducted map study and on-site surveys for roll-outs/site re-location/site co-location to verify radio link Line of Site, space availability; or to verify FOC route, splice points, and other outside plant requirements.

Wireless Transport: Microwave link planning, calculation and implementation:

·   Conducts map study and actual survey for the verification of LOS on-site with first-hand experience with the use of survey instruments such as binoculars, compass, digital camera, topographical maps, laptop computer and GPS.

·   Creates Microwave Radio Link design and calculation using planning tools such as Pathloss 3.0 and Mapinfo with radios such as Aviat Eclipse, Alcatel-Lucent AWY, Nokia Flexihopper and Ericsson Minilink.

·   Conducts study of the propagation conditions for a planned system including clearance criteria based on ITU Recommendations. This includes study of the propagating signal using reflection, diffraction and multipath analysis and calculating availability calculations according to ITU Recommendations.

·   Troubleshoots radio frequency interference following ITU recommendations and through the use of BER tester, Feed Horn Antenna, LNA, and Spectrum Analyzer.

·   Facilitates frequency plan, study and licensing for regulatory application to the National Telecommunications Commission.

·   Conducts acceptance testing for new radio links based on path calculation and in accordance to ITU recommendations using BER test for TDM, and RFC2544 for Packet Radios. These radios include Aviat Eclipse Packet Node, Nera Evolution, NEC DRS5000 and Fujitsu NFRX.

·   Handled frequency planning, radio allocation and deployment of Harris/Aviat Super PDH Microwave Radio Project Phases 6-10, and Packet Radio Phase 1 for Smart Communications Inc.

 

Wired Transport: Fiber Optic Network planning, calculation and implementation for FITL/DFON:

·   Map study and actual survey for possible routes of fiber optic cable using road maps, topographical maps, GIS-based applications such as FalconView, Google Earth and the manual measuring tool roller meter.

·   Designed and plotted the proposed optical fiber network in a map for aerial, underground or direct buried plan and prepare a costing for project approval.

·   Solid grasp of fiber optic technology such as fiber optic cable components, fiber types, connector types, path panels, and fiber optic outside plant standards.

·   Conducted optical fiber testing and acceptance with JDSU/Anritsu test equipment.

·   Assessment and dimensioning of multiplexers with regard to the site requirement and power budget calculations. These include ECI XDM100/300/500, Tellabs 6320
